How The Program Works
Great Ideas for Michigan seeks ideas from citizens, working families and job providers across the state through an online community at www.greatideasformichigan.org. Ideas are collected through the site and posted publicly for others to read, rate and comment. Every person that lives and works in Michigan is invited to participate.
Great Ideas will focus on six categories:
- Rebuilding Communities & Transportation
- Enjoying Michigan’s Vast Resources
- Achieving a Healthy Michigan
- Revitalizing Michigan’s Economy
- Improving Education Attainment
- Modernizing Government at All Levels
Great Ideas should:
- Be significant and relevant to Michigan’s unique communities and resources
- Be innovative, creative and focus on transforming Michigan’s future
- Reach beyond government responsibility and applicable for emerging public and private sector leaders to influence
Great Ideas can include:
- Creative, original thoughts at the neighborhood, local, regional or statewide level
- Innovative concepts that can be developed into action plans
- Links to other models, sites or exhibits that Michigan should consider
- Targeted research to support ideas
- Discussion on the merits of ideas
The final step will be to evaluate and select fifty Great Ideas based on:
- Vision and Innovation
- Viability
- Affordability
- Potential Regional or Statewide Impact
The Great Ideas for Michigan report will be published and widely distributed on ideas that can help move Michigan forward.
