ive heard that after a few years of service our state reps and elected gov. get full retirement and medical for life.. not the cheap kind of medical,,, or the volital soc sec like the rest of us - but their own special set up... funded,, not at risk... if thats true shouldnt they be taking the hit like the rest of us?? i didnt hear them mentioning any cut in that when they were scrambling for money to make a budget!! lets cut their benefits back like the real workers had to do, and save the state some money...

michigan bases its free education to all including illegals on a texas supreme court ruling dated 1982 - plyler v. doe (look it up) in that case texas at the time couldnt show real harm.. but now that we are flooded with illegals, and it cost $7,000 to $10,000 each a year to educate them it does cause harm,.. we can even afford to educate our own... and to top that after putting them completely through school - some to college - its illegal for them to go to work here... here in waterford mi. for each 100 students it cost us taxpayers $1,000,000 a year.. do the math!!!!

Value Added Property Taxation

I propose the current system of real property taxation be modified. Currently it is based on the value of land plus improvements which the owner either make or purchased when buying the property. This creates additional tax revenue for municipalities based on owners making improvements. For example, if I put an addition on my house, I pay more taxes which is a discentive for doing so. How about having property taxes be based on the value of the "land only", not on the land + improvements? The assumption here is municipal good government, in the form of police, fire, schools, zoning, etc. creates more valuable land, while the value of the improvements is created by the owner building same. This provides the proper incentives to all involved parties and makes local government more accountable.

Electrical Deregulation

If the state of Michigan would deregulate the electrical utilities such as DTE this would free up more cash for Business and residential. I for one took advantage of saving on my natural gas bill so now I have that extra cash to spend. Thanks to deregulation ! Deregulation is a good thing it stops companies like DTE from charging their sky high fees. If there are any true for the people by the people elected officials out there and would like to see facts and figures all you have to do is contact me.

Modify recall rules

Currently you could recall an elected official because he/she is wearing green on Thursday. Modify the rules: Recalls should only be allowed if an elected official has broken the law. We elect people to make hard decisions for us, if we don't like those decisions, vote them out. The cost, especially to small citys and townships, is significant and from the recalls I've seen lately, unnecessary.
