Educate our officers and officials

during this last summer I was reading an article that suggested that officers were targeting for tickets to "bail out" of city financial nightmares. I was appalled till I read on and it was a nationwide article that sited Michigan as the state it was refering to at which point i was ashamed. Our natural resourses, lakes, forests, and amazing landscape seaports makes Michigan a perfect ddetination for vacationers. Train our government and our police and state troopers to deal harshly in the event of true violators of the law, and to leave alone the out of town travelers from the "bail out syndrome" that seems to have taken over our government agencies. Training in enhancing the experiance of out of state visitors in a state that should be fully commited to creating a destination vacation evironment for them is vital.

Promote a family walk night 2-3 days a week. This will promote health of mind, body and soul. Like days of old, neighbors will get to know each other and maybe exchange healthy recipes.

It should be part time as all other state governments are.

Michigan has an abundance of unused land (especially with an ever-shrinking manufacturing base), so why not look at new, cash-generating crops to use some of this land? There are many profitable crops in the medicinal areas of plantings. Homeopathic medicine and natural supplements are a multi-billion dollar industry. If the state would invest in and promote large greenhouses for year-round growing, we could develop an entirely new economy. We would also be promoting a better environment and attract people to the area. Detroit alone, has much more land than the population dictates. Reclaim pockets of this land as State-owned and start growing!

If you use Northern Indiana and New Jersey as models for manufacturing, they have a very large and prosperous orthopaedic base. With Michigan's machining resources, skilled workforce and available real estate, we could be transitioning immediately. Don't put too much faith into the film industry as it brings in mostly out-of-state workers and generates few jobs for displaced auto workers. The orthopaedic manufacturing arena employs exactly the type of workers we have in abundance.
