I am on the same page as Walter Gale. The politicians use our tax money to pay ALL their bills. Since we, the people, are their bosses and can no longer afford their luxuries, I feel we need to hold them accountable. We have to drive ourselves to work, pay for maintenance on our vehicles, and insurance. I feel the public officials should have to do the same. Let them deduct it from their taxes as business expenses if they must. That way they are putting the money up front as we do and have to wait for their refund. I also agree they should only get paid for the time they work as well as making politicians pay for part of their health insurance. Pensions, what is that? They can do the 401K just like to common folk. Hopefully this may weed out the career politicians that do not care and bring in only the ones that truly want to make a difference. There is no reason to go after the public's safety by threatening to cut police/fire and schools. Shame on all of you that take this route. Remember YOU work for US.

I too agree with Walter Gale on all of the above except for one more thing, once the politicians are out of office, their medical insurance should be cut off too. General Motors has cut off all of the retired people that worked for 40 years + for them, so should we the people. If everyone in the government trying to balance our budget takes a paycut, and pays a percentage of medical insurance, we wouldn't have a budget problem now would we.
