Why not offer refreshments in vending machines at highway rest stops made in Michigan ONLY? Not only that, but why not go one step further and have Michigan vendors set up on weekends to sell their Michigan Made items? Why not? That way when people stop to use the restrooms, they can easilly see what Michigan has to offer. I think it makes sense to buy only Michigan made items at Michigan rest stops. It helps our local economy.

I have been working on a new television show. (Outdoor activities and travel) Just for Michigan...Does anyone know that Detroit has one of the best Walleye fisheries in the entire world? That there are almost as many bald eagles at the Soo than there are in many areas in Alaska? That we can now boast the world record Brown Trout? Or that we have the largest Elk herd east if the Mississippi? My cast utilize members of the Michigan Outdoor Writers Assoc (of which I also belong), as well as guides and experts in other areas to show the very best activities that people in other states would love. Skiing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, hiking, etc...Work with the Chambers of Commerce in each city we go to and show the hospitalities of each area, dining, hotels, beaches, views, etc. Viewers a cross the country will know what time of year, where to stay and where to dine...

If you have entered a courtroom or jail in mid-michigan recently it would be pretty obvious to assume that what the criminal justice system is currently doing is not working. We should begin to focus on successful probations tactics as well as efficient rehabilitation programs that are not as ho-hum as they currently are. Police officers and judges are not the only people in the criminal justice system we need to invest in people that can bring the best out of the people that are currently in the system. By the way in Jackson county one prisoner on average costs 23,000 dollars and that is if he/she has no medical conditions, and the tax payers pay for it.

As one of many college graduates who had to move out of state for work, I wish desperately to move home but can not due to the poor economy and a lack of job opportunities. I currently work as a Membership Director at a very affluent golf club in Texas. I have found through this position that there is a huge demand for the golf industry in the state of Michigan. I can not tell you how many Texans (TRUE TEXANS!) I have met that have told me they have taken a group trip to northern Michigan and absolutely loved it! They have gone further to say that they would consider buying a summer home on a lake or golf course. I will tell you that many; if not most, of my members have second homes out of state. The majority of which are in Colorado. Why not make it Michigan? There is truly a market for this! For one, there is no tax incentive for second homes in Michigan. I know there is home inventory available, so why are we not doing anything to promote this? Secondly, the Pure Michigan ad campaigns have been widely successful. We need to continue to build on this momentum and push forward into other categories camping, hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling, shopping, dining etc. There is potential for Michigan and I here it everyday..all the way down in Texas!

I have thought about this for many years. Why not have a legit cruise line come into lakes of Michigan and promote four to five cities on the lakes. Have one From Detroit to Holland. This would increase money comming into the state and show off our wonderful State. Tourism could be the thing to turn the state around. There are many cities that would line up to become a port to stop on the cruise. There even could be cruises to promote different products or produce raised and sold in Michigan.
